GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Out of the Garden Project hosted a special Fresh Food Market on Wednesday afternoon to provide meal boxes to federal workers impacted by the partial government shutdown or those who have recently lost their jobs. The Fresh Food Market started in 2012 and provides families in need with fresh meat, vegetables, produce, bread and other items.
A retired federal law enforcement employee who is also a volunteer suggested doing something for those impacted by the shutdown. “I hope people will be willing to come out, because we all need a hand at one time or another. That’s why my wife and I started the garden project, and I hope people will come out and receive what’s offered,” said Don Milholin, president of the Out of the Garden Project.
